{"id":1293,"date":"2012-04-24T07:00:37","date_gmt":"2012-04-24T06:00:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/six40winks.com\/?p=1293"},"modified":"2012-04-24T07:00:37","modified_gmt":"2012-04-24T06:00:37","slug":"day-47-adapting-to-everyman-polyphasic-sleep-in-4-days","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/six40winks.com\/?p=1293","title":{"rendered":"Day 47 &#8211; Adapting to Everyman polyphasic sleep in 4 days"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After a week at a conference where I had to go monophasic I&#8217;m going back to the Everyman schedule<\/p>\n<p><strong>20 April 2012, \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong>Unfortunately most of the\u00a0data for this day is missing.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/six40winks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/20120420_16h_nap-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1295\" title=\"hypnogram for the 16h nap\" src=\"https:\/\/six40winks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/20120420_16h_nap-1.png\" alt=\"hypnogram for the 16h nap\" width=\"110\" height=\"123\" \/><\/a>My flight arrived so late on the <strong>19th<\/strong> that I had to camp at the airport! \u00a0Sleeping bag + mat + airport floor gave me\u00a0<strong>3h<\/strong> of sleep. \u00a0The zeo battery had run out but I do remember dreaming on two occasions.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1306\" style=\"width: 250px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/six40winks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/sleeping_bag-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1306\" class=\" wp-image-1306 \" title=\"packing the sleeping mat\" src=\"https:\/\/six40winks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/sleeping_bag-1-300x294.jpg\" alt=\"packing the sleeping mat\" width=\"240\" height=\"235\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1306\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">travel light with a sleeping mat<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Then <strong>1h30<\/strong> of train naps and finally the <strong>17h <\/strong>nap displayed above. \u00a0 No doubt after a week of very sleep deprived (~ 5.5h\/night)\u00a0monophasic schedule coming back to Everyman will be hard. \u00a0Tired after 20h. I&#8217;m feeling grumpy. In a sad mood. sleepy.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong>21 April 2012<\/strong><\/div>\n<p><strong><\/strong>I am relieved to be back in control of my time, sleep and schedules.\u00a0\u00a0Too excited to nap at 19h &#8230; too many things in my head, buzzing with ideas.\u00a0Around 20h however, my body called for a rest &#8230; which I didn&#8217;t give it as I had a 2h phone conversation which I needed to finish. \u00a0This lead to a very exhausted me at 22h &#8230; but I forced myself to stay awake until 23h to talk to my girlfriend. \u00a0This obviously will make me fall asleep instantly, but will probably affect the morning.<a href=\"https:\/\/six40winks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/20120421_core_hypnogram-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1319\" title=\"hypnogram sleep rem, light, deep, awake phases on a polyphasic sleeping schedule\" src=\"https:\/\/six40winks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/20120421_core_hypnogram-1.png\" alt=\"hypnogram sleep rem, light, deep, awake phases on a polyphasic sleeping schedule\" width=\"762\" height=\"140\" srcset=\"https:\/\/six40winks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/20120421_core_hypnogram-1.png 762w, https:\/\/six40winks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/20120421_core_hypnogram-1-300x55.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 762px) 100vw, 762px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>(2012\/04\/21, (4:10,6),(4:20,7,&#8221;productive work&#8221;),(4:46,6.5,&#8221;itchy eyes, tired muscles but aware&#8221;), (7:30,7), )<\/p>\n<p><strong>22 April 2012<\/strong><br \/>\n(2012\/04\/22, (4:10,4, &#8220;not out of REM&#8221;),(4:29,4,&#8221;quite sleepy&#8221;),<br \/>\nAt <strong>4:30<\/strong>\u00a0in the morning I laid on the bed to get back some energy. \u00a0 Did it work? \u00a0Of course not! I nodded off for 20mn (and didn&#8217;t record it). \u00a0When I woke up at\u00a0<strong>4:55\u00a0<\/strong>it was difficult to concentrate. Time for thoughtless work like matching and rolling 25 pairs of socks! \u00a0And trim and wash the leaves of a coliflower to make a vegetable soup. \u00a0This morning the sea is a grey animal with shivering skin. \u00a0I&#8217;ll post a video of it soon \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/six40winks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/20120422_core_hypnogram_n7am_nap-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1322\" title=\"20120422_core_hypnogram_n7am_nap\" src=\"https:\/\/six40winks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/20120422_core_hypnogram_n7am_nap-1.png\" alt=\"polyphasic sleep hypnogram with two naps - the third nap is missing\" width=\"762\" height=\"139\" srcset=\"https:\/\/six40winks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/20120422_core_hypnogram_n7am_nap-1.png 762w, https:\/\/six40winks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/20120422_core_hypnogram_n7am_nap-1-300x55.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 762px) 100vw, 762px\" \/><\/a>I think the headband lost contact with my skin through the night (and thus the gaps). \u00a0 It also took a while to fall asleep for the\u00a0<strong>17h<\/strong>\u00a0nap as I was excited. \u00a0 I have to remember my own rules and spend 15mn away from the computer before going to bed. \u00a0I think the difficulty with evening naps is just a result of the new adaptation process.<\/p>\n<p><strong>23 April<\/strong><br \/>\nAll normal, but a little delayed on the nap schedule.
