{"id":391,"date":"2012-03-13T20:17:50","date_gmt":"2012-03-13T20:17:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/six40winks.com\/?p=391"},"modified":"2012-03-13T20:17:50","modified_gmt":"2012-03-13T20:17:50","slug":"day-6-slowly-adapting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/six40winks.com\/?p=391","title":{"rendered":"Day 6 &#8211; slowly adapting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Waking up was Ok.\u00a0 I could concentrate and work quite well until <strong>5:30<\/strong>.\u00a0 Time at which I got drowsy and sleepy.\u00a0 However some activity snapped me out of it and I got back to work.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s <strong>day 4<\/strong> of the Everyman schedule and I&#8217;m doing very well.\u00a0 Much better than the first day.\u00a0 Again the <strong>7am<\/strong> nap is still full of REM, just like in a normal sleep morning.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_392\" style=\"width: 776px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/six40winks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/20120313_core_hypnogram-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-392\" class=\"size-full wp-image-392\" title=\"20120313_core_hypnogram\" src=\"https:\/\/six40winks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/20120313_core_hypnogram-1.png\" alt=\"polyphasic sleep diagram of phases\" width=\"766\" height=\"149\" srcset=\"https:\/\/six40winks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/20120313_core_hypnogram-1.png 766w, https:\/\/six40winks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/20120313_core_hypnogram-1-300x58.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 766px) 100vw, 766px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-392\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">sleep phases on the 13th of March (the mobile didn&#39;t synchronize properly for the 5pm nap)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Today I slept <strong>4h <\/strong>and <strong>39mn<\/strong> in total and I&#8217;m not feeling sleepy all day.\u00a0 Instead there are a few moments around <strong>6:30<\/strong>, <strong>12:30<\/strong> and after <strong>22:00<\/strong> when I feel quite tired.\u00a0 But my energy levels are relatively constant the rest of the day.\u00a0 I may start logging my subjective alertness and awareness on a 1 &#8211; 10 scale through the day to try to describe better the adaptation period.\u00a0 Readers, what do you think?\u00a0 Would that be useful?<!--more--><strong>Health<\/strong>: I stayed at home today to regain all my strength.\u00a0 My leg injury has healed very quickly (almost finished in 3 days), so I don&#8217;t see the sleep deprivation affecting it so far.\u00a0 Otherwise I&#8217;m snacking a bit more, still doing dinner and lunch and drinking more juice and water.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Adapting? \u00a0<\/strong> All in all, it&#8217;s too early to say if I have adapted to Everyman.\u00a0 My body may be just getting more and more tired and I just haven&#8217;t noticed.\u00a0 Most personal accounts describe a <strong>2 &#8211; 3 week<\/strong> adaptation phase, so I have to be patient and continue sticking to the schedule.\u00a0 Perhaps in a week I&#8217;ll make a first attempt at \u00fcberman (6 twenty minute naps and no core sleep).\u00a0 Below is the evolution in the last week and a half of my core sleep times:<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_404\" style=\"width: 225px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/six40winks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/core_sleep_march4_march10-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-404\" class=\" wp-image-404\" title=\"core_sleep_march4_march10\" src=\"https:\/\/six40winks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/core_sleep_march4_march10-1-148x300.png\" alt=\"weekly polyphasic core nap\" width=\"215\" height=\"436\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-404\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Core sleep during the first week of Everyman Adaptation<\/p><\/div>\n<p>As you see there is no clear repeating structure or pattern every night.\u00a0 This may be a combination of natural variability and adaptation (I&#8217;ll be able to tell you more when I crunch the data from the first two weeks of normal sleep).\u00a0 Have a nice sleep!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Waking up was Ok.\u00a0 I could concentrate and work quite well until 5:30.\u00a0 Time at which I got drowsy and sleepy.\u00a0 However some activity snapped me out of it and I got back to work.
