{"id":519,"date":"2012-03-19T10:41:11","date_gmt":"2012-03-19T10:41:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/six40winks.com\/?p=519"},"modified":"2012-03-19T10:41:11","modified_gmt":"2012-03-19T10:41:11","slug":"day-12-zeo-troubles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/six40winks.com\/?p=519","title":{"rendered":"day 12 &#8211; Zeo Troubles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you don&#8217;t know about polyphasic sleeping <a title=\"about\" href=\"http:\/\/six40winks.com\/about\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">read this first<\/a>.\u00a0 Today I slept very well.\u00a0 I had <a title=\"wiki REM\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rapid_eye_movement_sleep\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">REM<\/a> on all naps, and two nice periods of REM in the core sleep (It may be true that doing <strong>3:20<\/strong> instead of <strong>3:00<\/strong> core sleep on Everyman has benefits.\u00a0 One of the readers seems to <a title=\"try polyphasic\" href=\"http:\/\/trypolyphasic.com\/forum\/topic\/876\/uber-and-everyman-theory-analysis\/\">think so<\/a>).<a href=\"https:\/\/six40winks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/20120318_core_hypnogram-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-574\" title=\"20120318_core_hypnogram\" src=\"https:\/\/six40winks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/20120318_core_hypnogram-1.png\" alt=\"sleeping diagram with zeo ... missing naps\" width=\"763\" height=\"139\" srcset=\"https:\/\/six40winks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/20120318_core_hypnogram-1.png 763w, https:\/\/six40winks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/20120318_core_hypnogram-1-300x55.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 763px) 100vw, 763px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<dl id=\"attachment_574\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" style=\"width: 773px;\">\n<dd class=\"wp-caption-dd\">sleep phase diagram with zeo &#8230; missing naps \ud83d\ude41<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p>Anyway, I keep having some problems with the <a title=\"zeo sleep\" href=\"http:\/\/www.myzeo.com\/sleep\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">headband<\/a> (or Dry EEG to record the sleep phases).\u00a0 The machine is quite astonishing, light and comfortable.\u00a0 But the developers had a big blind spot when it comes to designing the database.\u00a0 The charts above are not the output of their website.\u00a0 All the charts you see here are practically done by hand.\u00a0 I have to copy paste, adapt, scroll, select by color, open, crop about 4 times. All that to make a little chart like that one!!\u00a0 The reason is pretty simple.\u00a0 Zeo thinks that everybody is <strong>monophasic<\/strong>.\u00a0 So they will only save the longest period of sleep.\u00a0 If you don&#8217;t pay special attention to your naps and record them on separate files they will just disappear from the record.\u00a0\u00a0 Not good for <strong>polyphasic<\/strong> sleep, of course.\u00a0 So if you stop the alarm and put the headband in the docking station.\u00a0 POUF!\u00a0 Gone.\u00a0 I did remember the length of the naps, and the dreams (REM) at the end of it.\u00a0 So I&#8217;ve drawn in beige a rough estimate of the nap.\u00a0 Anyway &#8230; I&#8217;m going to develop my own scripts to record the data and do my charts automatically.\u00a0 This is roughly how it will work:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/six40winks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Zeo-data-processing-diagram-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-580\" title=\"Zeo-data-processing-diagram\" src=\"https:\/\/six40winks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Zeo-data-processing-diagram-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"754\" height=\"757\" srcset=\"https:\/\/six40winks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Zeo-data-processing-diagram-1.png 754w, https:\/\/six40winks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Zeo-data-processing-diagram-1-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/six40winks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Zeo-data-processing-diagram-1-150x150.png 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 754px) 100vw, 754px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>My headband talks to the phone and docking station.\u00a0 Then my phone uploads the data to their website.\u00a0 I use their website API to pull the data back to my computer regularly (I have to check if I can grab the full naps or just the core sleep).
